Hey Chaps
The wiring lume looks a bit tattered so I want to change the section that feeds the rear of my car (ie.lights) but following
the lume thru the trunk into the cabin it doesn't join anywhere. Does this mean that I would have to replace
the complete wiring lume in the car from front to back
Hope not

Mine is a 68 convertible and the rear harness runs from the front all the way to the rear. The connector as I recall is behind the drivers kick panel.

Yup, 68rs327conv is right, the rear harness connects up at the dash. You have two choices - as there are only a couple of wires that go to the rear, you can splice it behind the rear seat/quarter windo area, you can re-tape the original wiring if you are only looking for cosmetic upgrade, or you can take everything apart and plug the new harness in at the front........sorry.

When you state the wiring lume looks a little tattered do you mean the plastic sheath that encompasses the wiring? They usually become brittle and become a little ugly. If that is the root issue you might want to find a donor piece of sheath and replace only from the back seat back. If you do this take measurements to replace the tab holders in the exact location, use the correct type tape to tape them on, and take notice to how they were taped on to replicate. On this page I have a couple pics of our 68 wiring harness.

Yes, same on my 68 RS/SS... front to back, with the connector behind the drivers side kick panel...

Hey fellas
Just about to change the wiring harness in my 68 and noticed that there is a socket on top of the wheel arch. I'm assuming this is for
the under boot lighting if it was ordered or are the harnesses different for each?
Thanks
Matt

What brand wiring harness did you purchase? Are you referring to the wheel arch in the trunk Matt?

Im guessing by the condition its the original one, not sure what brand. Yeah its the wheel arch in the trunk.

Chick do you see any difference in original vs American auto wirings ( Factory fit harness ) ?
