Title: OT- Rare Shelby Mustang GT500 unearthed after 40 years
Post by: Mike S on March 14, 2014, 11:48:20 PM
Interesting...another rare care but this time 'unearthed'. It's not a Camaro but it falls into the catagory of our last discussion about barn finds.

I can replicate that white dust  layer by shooting dry white primer into the air and letting it settle on the car.  ;)

I live about 5 miles from this car and it's the talk of the town.  Many locals have known about this car for years but he refused to sell it. It really does reside in a barn and unfortunately was not well protected. During our harsh central PA winters the barn doors would be left wide open. The scuttlebutt is that it will sell for over $200K. This was a hoarder beyond belief.

I'll be attending the auction but strictly as a form of entertainment. Another car in my garage and I'll be headed to divorce court.    ;D

That's enough to make you puke... What a find and where does the money go? Sounds like the govt makes out again.

"Larry Brown, a resident of Centre Hall, Pa., passed away on his birthday during the latter part of last year, leaving behind a trove of fascinating items. With no wife or children to inherit his estate, the entire collection — his house, TVs, snow blowers, motorbikes and of course cars — are heading to auction, with the Mustang the star attraction."

I would *think* that whomever is handling his estate will get the $$ (after the auction company takes their big %%%)... and shouldn't the estate have to look for relatives?   however distant they might be??

WOW...........
They are still out there I guess.
What a car to own, if only I had more children to harvest organs from.
The past President of our Muscle Car Club down here has one of those, he will no doubt be interested in this.
I am guessing the auction will be most interesting.

I am 25 miles away.  I work with a guy who dealt with the owner on guns and did not know about the car.   As far as the sale goes you have to be there to buy it.  No phone or internet bidding.   200 k is a number I hear.

Just got back from the Shelby auction. It went for $285,000 to a guy who lives in Philipsburg, PA (about 20 miles away). The car is absolutely stunning when seen in person. The Ranchero sold for $41,000 and the Van with 551 miles on it sold for $14,000. Huge crowd (probably 1000+ people). Nice that it's staying locally but thought for sure it would have gone into the Hendrick or Leno collection (both of which were rumored to have been in town to look at the Shelby).

Here are a few pics.
