Good day all,
I would like to introduce myself and my project in that great forum.
My name is Fahad from Saudi Arabia.
My project is 69 Camaro SS/RS.
I will start my restoration process with posting.

There are around 20 1st Gen Camaros in my mind.
I will post more pictures.
I own it from 28-Nov-2004 (around 9 years)
I was searching for 1st gen Camaro, till I found it about 400 km from my city.
It really great look musclecar.
Yes I have friends in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Kuwait.
The orange car for my friend from Kuwait.

Just curious Fahad, how is the metal holding up on the car? Is there much rust corrosion? From your pic the body looks very decent, but the vinyl top really looks dried out.

The car bought from USA at Jan-1991, in my country 1st gen Camaros same mine condition sold for 13000 $
I plan to restore it to the original stock condition as much I can.

1 = Chevrolet
2 = Camaro
4 = 8-cylinder engine
37 = coupe body
9 = 1969 model year
N = Norwood, OH assembly plant
544009 = vehicle serial number sequence
Decode for body number: 185446
11C = Built the Third week of November.
69-12437 = Coupe.
NOR = Built in Norwood Ohio.
711 = Standard Black Bucket Seats.

Your English is fairly good and it is easy to understand what your writing. We can fine tune that for you once you get to posting more. Can't wait to see more on your car. Looks to be an SS... big block or small block? Your avatar shows an RS but your pic shows a standard rear panel. I really like the color. I am partial to dark blue myself.

The engine is 454 Big block Chevy. (see the attached picture)
The previous owner changed the taillights and removed the reverse lights and blocked the place. (see the attached picture)
I am planning to paint it by red color with white stripes.
any suggestion for bright red color code?

Red is a great choice! ::)
52 52 is Garnet Red, which was the brightest factory color red offered that year.
Of corse with -- (special paint) code you could go with any shade of red you wanted and it would still be considered correct.

That looks like a fun project. Good luck and we all hope see pictures of your progress. Mine is also a 11C car and built only about 3700 after yours according to the vin #.
Red with White stripes is a great color combination. Have fun with your car.

Interesting on the top. Was there halo trim if the car had the two tone paint or the trim that is showing on Fahads car now? Maybe a dealer installed vinyl top at one time? Wouldn't the pins under the trim indicate anything?

I will check the original color during body disassembly process.

The vinyl top mldgs look like 67-68 camaro. Cool project. Keep the pics coming fahad!

Great project, it looks dusk blue now, maybe it was just ordered sans stripes... which would have netted the - - on the TT.
BTW...Another 69 color which could have been on a - - car and is much brighter than Garnet Red is MONZA RED the Corvette color, it is also the RED STRIPE color on 69 Camaro's.
Car was originally a SB the underhood lamp is on the drivers side which is where the SB dipstick was located.

I haven't seen a Camaro special ordered Monza red from the factory. So that brings up a good question regarding his car: What percentage of the 69 Camaros were ordered with special paint, or stripe delete? ( I see on the CRG percentage by color, but not for special order)

I'm very curious what the original color was.
Originally a 4-speed or an automatic?
If you are determined to paint it red, I'd do the Monza Red with SS side stripes.

Let's start, my car is 69 SS/RS Camaro and located in Saudi Arabia and I am going to restore it to original condition as much as I can.

that dash area doesn't look quite right, maybe modified? Pretty interesting to see someone move the battery tray to the firewall. I have seen it relocated to the trunk, but first time seeing someone relocate to the firewall.

Interesting...Looks more like a 67 Camaro/Firebird dash panel. Needs some forensic work done to determine what year it is. TT indicates a very early built 69 and if it is, what happened to the original dash panel? Do we have a mystery on our hands? I'm intrigued.

I saw those as well, seems like they all have those vents in the dash, and his doesn't have those, but has the 4 holes in the center.

Very unusual car Fahad has. I am so curious what he actually has, a Camaro or a Firebird. There are really only a few things that would confirm it either way isn't there? As already said, a replacement dash (fiberglass?) which does appear to be a 69 Firebird without the a.c./astro vents in the corners and the added 4 center holes and the dash pad looks more 67 with no drop down legs. Then all the Camaro body panels on it if it is a Firebird. Would explain the 67-68 vinyl top trim too,but I understand that some installers used those even on some 69's. Here'a pic of a 69 Penske car with an added vinyl roof cover, unless that is really a modified 67-68 body.

I have looked at many images of a 69 firebird engine compartment, and haven't seen one with it mounted on the firewall. I can't see why it would be engineered differently. Looking at the pic though i don't see a heater box there either?

The 4 holes assembly in the middle are fabricated locally for gauges.

Unfortunately the VIN (serial) number is removed with the original dash, but I got it from the vehicle registration paper.

That being the case, remove the cowl panel (panel between windshield and hood) and there should be a hidden Partial VIN almost in the top center of the cowl. Give us a full report.

No VIN tag - I'd make sure to ask the prior owner if he still has the 69 dash with the VIN. Very important part (the VIN).
Not sure where you would get the 69 metal dash parts except from a parts car.
Drum brakes? I don't think this originally was an SS then. Maybe a LM1?

Tail light lenses are not RS and I do not see the cut outs for the back up lights in the rear pan so I don't think it is an RS either.

If you read his earlier post and pic, he says the RS tailights got swapped out at one point, and you can see in the pic he posted that the back up lights got filled in as well.

I believe a pic was posted that showed reverse light holes filled in, in an earlier post in thread. I think Fahad should be checking that hidden VIN and making sure his car was not sent overseas because there is a problem with its history.

I would hold off on sand blasting the steering box, you don't want small particles getting in through the seals and ruining it. The rest looks good though

Well you have plenty of sand there ;) I have blasted steering boxes before, i use small rubber hoses around the seal areas with lots of tape,seems to work good.That looks like a nice project,good luck! BTW were will you get parts from,& how long do they take to get there??

You displayed a new automatic transmission that I assume you will be using, correct? If not already planned for you will need a different cross-member as the one in your picture is for a manual transmission.

Unfortunately the caliper is installed in opposite way as per the following article from SUPER CHEVY mag.
