Post by: HOT3O2 on March 05, 2014, 07:51:04 PM
This is just sad. I hate to see it happen. If these people could only be more informed and do there home work.

Well at least nobody hit the buy it now. Good or Bad, the re stamps continue to get better though. At this point I am sure some have been passed off as authentic and it was close enough where you couldn't tell.

Hopefully as the quality of the re-stamps improve, the conscience of those re-stampers improves as well and they do right in describing them honestly.

I am sure he meant to type Chevelle. My mac word correct doesn't recognize Chevelle and auto corrects it to cheville, chenille

what is a Cheville ?
Well, you had to ask...http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/cheville also French for foot or ankle.

Back when I worked at a speed shop around 1980, and this is a true story, a fella came in wanting a part for a "Novelle". After trying to explain that there is no such animal, he insisted we look at his car to prove his ignorance. I and another co-worker went out to the parking lot and lo and behold, there it was, a Novelle! It was a Nova for sure, but someone had taken a Chevelle emblem and spliced the two together on the trunk, lol. So, there you have it...Novelle!!

If he had broken off that trailing 'LE' it would have been even more 'novel'...  :)

I don't have any experience on how to tell restamps on alternators. Must be something really glaring I haven't noticed yet, but I'm still comparing. I need an '837 close to the first week of June 69 so I want to make sure it is real. Any side by side pics anywhere?

I too Gary have been looking for one for a long time. I copy and save all the pic's I come across of these alternators for comparison. All these were batch made so there are certain date to look for too. Good luck in your search. I'll keep you in mind when I'm looking. If you come across one from Nov.68 maybe you can let me know.

Will do. We have to stick together. What date? 9 L ? correct? I'm always looking because this is the last big piece I need for my car. I'm also looking for an '834 for my 10B, October 68, built 69 Impala.

Actually Gary it would be an 8L. I have a 12B built car. I'll keep an eye peeled for that early June 69 unit. Your right, We have to stick together.

Sorry my mistake. 8 L.  You have a known date? Is it OK to post them?
