Title: Owner and I believe this to be a Z (69)
Post by: ko-lek-tor on March 04, 2014, 09:55:58 PM
This new listing for a hulk appears to be a H.P. model and the 4 leafs give credence as a Z, as owner points out. Also mentioned are that it has Muncie speedo hole and manual floor shift hole. Not mentioned are: RH rear dual exhaust hanger, firewall holes for RS and Ducted Hood, Tail Pan RS Holes, May have spoiler deck springs too. Maybe we can inquire and get the hidden Vin for database? If you (members) are going to Charlotte Autofair, it could be checked out closer. I bet Cook could get this one fixed up with his talent, lol, not me though. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Chevrolet-Camaro-z28-69-camaro-body-for-parts-or-race-car-NO-TITLE-/301114113216?forcerrptr=true&hash=item461bccbcc0&item=301114113216&pt=US_Cars_Trucks.
I forwarded it to member KERR, since he needs a roof.

Surely, you could have looked it over closer, it's not like it was H.O. and you could not look directly at it DW!!

Roy emailed a few pics to me and when I ask for pics of those tell tale areas he didn't respond anymore but from the few he did send I could see it had signs of a  z/28 or ??  What wasn't bent up was eat up..He told me he might take 700.00 for it but wasn't sure what he might do with it at that time.I just called his number again this morning but didn't get an answer??

If the vin and the cowl tag are gone, what good is it? I don't see one usable panel on that car. If it had a vin tag and you could use the firewall to graft another car to then maybe. This is a boat anchor! IMHO

Drivers door and rear quarter don't look too bad :)

which part did you like best?   the rusted out wheelwell lip, or the huge dents running from one end to the other?  :)
I bet a metal recycler would love it.. :)

Am I missing something? Why do cars like this go for the prices they do? What possibly could be usable? At least this had springs and exhaust hangers. Scrap for cars, here in Ohio is about $250 a ton. A bare body like this is about 600 lbs. That comes to around $75. A guy I know, here, where I live, bought a 6cyl. coupe to make a pro-touring car. He bought a Dynacorn body and stripped this car completely including VIN. The tail panel and 1/4s where already cut off when he got the car the rest was pure rust and not one iota usable. I thought there might be something I could use for my upcoming body work, so I looked at it. It was worse than this eBay car and he told me he wanted $700 for it. Needless to say, it is still sitting at his house.

Here's one that I scrapped. At first I kicked myself for not cutting the roof off and saving it. But I felt lucky about selling the driver side hinge pillar for $300. Anyway it's gone and it won't end up on ebay. I may have kept the cowl tag section and VIN plate though (V8 car). ;D
