Title: Wiring Harness
Post by: sixt9x33rs on February 24, 2014, 12:38:01 PM
Guys,
I am going to put a new wiring harness on the Silver convertible, and wanted to get one with the correct color clips that attach the harness to the body. I have used M&H and Lectric Limited with success on my Corvettes but have not replaced a wiring harness on my Camaros. Can someone suggest a company that makes a harness with the correct color clips taped in the harness? Of course the fit has to be good too.

Thanks,

Lawrence

I bought an engine side harness for my 68 from LL.  The wires are 99% on ( the colors are a little off in shade, not a real big deal).  But I found the connectors were not identical to the factory ones were the connector goes on the firewall.  I bought the harness just to get a few of the wires that had been spliced in my original so I took those wires out of the harness and replaced them into my original connector.  It just depends on how anal you want to be.  You could take all the wires out of your original firewall connector and re-use your original one.  Probably easier than what I did.

I used American Autowire for a new rear harness, very happy.  I'm sure the wires were same color as original, but age and light had discolored the originals to some extent.   The plugs and clips were right on.  The original harness pigtails had been "butchered" considerably.
