Any members here have a Van Nuys-built '69 with original firewall, that does not have a hidden partial VIN stamp near the heater blower motor hole?
-
I parted out a wrecked Norwood '69 B/B convertible back around 1980 that did not have the VIN stamp under the heater box cover.

I don't have one but have seen a small handful that way over the course of many years in the hobby.

Thanks for your replies Warren and Jon, much appreciated.

If the car had factory AC the vin stamp is in a different location, not by the fan hole it is under the rectangular opening.
-
I think mine does not, just the one on top of the cowl, but I will have to check this weekend. Why the request? PS, my car does not have AC
-
Why the request?
Reason for request is that I have a non-A/C car with all original sheetmetal, and so far can find no sign whatsoever of a hidden partial stamped near the blower motor hole. The upper cowl hidden partial is present, and it's a nice deep stamping. I recalled reading somewhere a while ago that someone else with a Van Nuys car was also unable to find the second hidden partial, so wondered if any other examples of this were out there. Would appreciate it if you could give an update once you get a chance to check your car.

Yup, just checked, no stamp around the heater box, just on top of the cowl. 05a (really june sometime) L5303xxx

Thanks for checking Kevin - mine's an 04A build. Wonder if it was a widespread omission over several months, or just occasional ???
-
Just occasional.

Thanks Kurt.

I have no cowl or firewall partials. I had posted some pics a while back, I think. 10c LA car.

I have a LA Car Build Date 10C No hidden numbers on or around the heater box area on the firewall!! Did have the stamping on the cal though!!
-
Thanks for the updates guys - looks like there's quite a few, relatively speaking, LA cars still out there with at least one missing partial on the original factory sheetmetal.

I found my hidden firewall vin under the AC hole, very faint stamping, it is a Nor 69 11A BB. George
