Title: Base hubcap
Post by: chili r on February 11, 2014, 12:04:14 AM
I have been seeing mixed info on the color of a standard steel wheel on a 67 coupe with the base hubcap. As some state the wheel is painted body color and my car is white with black painted wheel and I see no evidence of re-paint. Which is correct and judged by others?  Thanks for looking.   ???

If you had the "poverty" or dog-dish hubcaps, the wheel is painted body color.  If you had full wheel covers, black.  Unless you've owned the car since new, many unknown things could have happened - wheel covers switched, wheels switched, wheels repainted years ago but appear as factory paint, service replacement wheels...  Sometimes previous owners even get confused over a 40 plus year span.
