Title: Z28 steering gear
Post by: sixt9x33rs on January 29, 2014, 02:15:15 AM
My Gold Z28 steering is noticeably harder to steer at stand still vs the Silver Z28. Both are manual steering. I read on the site that Z28 with special steering used a shorter steering arm. How can I measure this or what do I measure so I can compare the two?

Thanks,

Lawrence

Contact Jon Mello (member) on this site. Jack up front end and turn wheel lock to lock and count turns. N44 I think is about 3 complete turns. Also use search key on this site, put in "quick ratio steering" or "fast ratio" or "N44". There is already much discussed.

Jon has done a lot of work on first gen steering.

69 N44 Z's actually got a different steering box.
How many turns lock-to-lock with both cars?

I will count the turns and be back in touch.
