Finally having my original front seats re-covered,what is the best way to tidy up the backs and what finish would be correct? They are a hard plastic. I am not duing the seats myself, but would tackle the backs, Thank Randy

I'm curious, what month your car was built to have plastic seat backs in 67?

1st week of August 1966

My 4B and 5B 67'S have metal backs. I thought 67's had metal and starting late 67 went to plastic. ???

That would be correct. Idk of many if any at all 67's that originally had plastic backs.
-
After a better look, more like feel, they are metal. So the same question still could use an answer please, thanks Randy.
-
Are they rusty or just dull? I would treat them as any metal part. Blast, sand and/or work out any imperfections and then paint.
-
They are in great shape...no rust or dents, just marked up....will do as you suggest..thank you
-
If they are just marked up then I would try to rub the marks out with a polish. If they dont come out then I would hit them with a scotch brite pad and then repaint.

I have one with original plastic seat backs. 07C build date.

According to a CRG report and an earlier thread ( http://www.camaros.org/forum/index.php?topic=10119.0 ) it looks like the metal was transitioned to plastic late in the '67 model run. It sounds like your 7C fits in that period.

My 5B NOR has metal. Must have been one of the last batch to get them.
