 I'd be glad to fork over $50 for that service....... only if they can tell me first they have my VIN on record first to make it justifyable.

I know this one was ordered while #1 was in Vietnam (probably a promotion through the PX ,Harley was doing it when I was in the service) Bought it for supposedly substantially less ,picked it up in Michigan ,drove it back to Ohio, sold it after about a year to #2  for a claimed profit (who my Dad bought it from in 76). #1 looked but could not find the paperwork--I have the POP but would like anything else just for nostalgic sake. So this service offers those documents ?  Shame he didn't track me down sooner, he did have all the pollution control parts up to a few years ago (stored in his parent's garage). Sold just before we talked. As everyone knows, and maybe not, this is one of the biggest reasons to track down the roots of your car. Never know what is hiding in the rafters of someone's garage--forgotten about.

don't get too excited as the mrs worked at the dealership and most all dealer dumped all paperwork after 10 years because it cost too much to keep it in storage.

True. I got my docs from the State (dealer invoice, MSO, title copies) before the Fed kicked in the Privacy Act on both Z's. I went to the local dealer in the late 70's to see if they had any copies of anything; that was the answer I got (they trashed the records). That drove me to the State DOT, which had everything (only now they do the same response - no labor to research the microfiche records, and then they redact the owner info even on late model stuff). Documenting early stuff is now almost impossible, so I really welcome the chance to find anything left I haven't already ratholed. NCRS, hurry up -

This is great news- agreed.

Your vehicles history can be composed (documented) by a patch work of information. This $50 expense is easily worth it. 
FWIW. I had (in 1996) the WA state Dept of Motor Vehicles perform a micro film search ($26) and got records back to a dead end 1974. ALL the printed material had the privacy act (PII) Personal Identification Information cut out with an 'exacto' knife. So as to comply and protect past owners from being ID'd or contacted.

I already know the dealer for my Car, but they went out of business in the 70s or 80s, this info is not going to help me much :(

If it's accurate it appears to be data from an NICB report shipping /assembly record.

I watched my dealer shred all of its old records and deals from as far back as the 20s in 2005.

Not an NICB record - it's from internal Chevrolet shipping records.
