Title: Time Machine
Post by: cook_dw on January 15, 2014, 03:11:42 AM
In another thread I posted some pics from another site of a 69 Nova SS on the dealership lot.  Janobyte asked the question what wouldnt I want off that lot.  That got me thinking hence the thread title "Time Machine".

If you could go back in time and order whatever Camaro you wanted what would it be?  Spec it out.

Mine is a tie between 2 68's

1.  RS/Z28 AA paint with 725 interior, console delete, heater delete, with Astro Ventilation glass, cowl plenum and header add-on with no spoiler with M22 and BW rear

2.  SS/RS L78 K2 paint D90 stripe with 714 interior, console with gauges, AM/FM radio, no spoiler, M22, BT rear

Ok your turn.   ;D

well, in 1969, I was actively discussing a new Chevelle SS396 with every dealer in my reach (I wanted more room than a Camaro)....      light green exterior, dark green vinyl roof, dark green vinyl bench seat, 396/350, 4 speed, Posi, PB
but I waited too long to order it..  3 days late..   and I didn't like the '70 Chevelle..  so I bought a lime green roadrunner instead in '70..  :)

Speaking of time machines - if your imagination still works, you always have one at your disposal.

A while back, we lost a very long term Chevrolet dealer in Nashville, the very one my car came from in February 1969 (28th).
My parents bought their first new car from there, a '57 Bel Air 4 dr. hardtop, which I grew up in. Other cars we bought from there - '65 Impala SS, '65 Corvair Corsa (i learned to drive in that one), '68 Impala Custom Coupe, '72 Impala, and finally my wife's '85 Z28.

Point being, a good friend of ours (who worked for the dealership) found some keepers before they closed - I tried to take as good a pic of them as I could - hopefully you can make out the 3 or 4 Camaros and the Chevelle sitting on the showroom floor. The Lemans Blue '69 Z in the back could be mine - and I wish I could go back to prove it.

Thanks, Sport !

Regards,
Steve

Hard to tell but the blue car in the pic but does it have stripes?
I also see a 67 or 8 on the lot pic.  Must have been the trade-ins on the front row cause its sitting next to a Galaxie.

Make mine Deepwater Blue with Black standard interior no console. SUN Tach. mounted to the column, aftermarket Oil, Temp., and Ammeter gauges under the Dash.  AM/FM Radio with rear speaker. SS396 with L78/89, M21/22, and 3:73 Posi rear.  Yah, that should do it.

It's Lemans with white panels. Can't tell if it's a spoiler equipped or not: definitely flat hood. The orange and white has a rear spoiler, I think the green one to left has a spoiler, can't tell if the blue 'vert in the foreground has one or not. 4 Camaros in the pic, the white one to the left may make it 5 -

Used lot was in the front left corner (I remember the OK signs to this day), trucks are in the near corner. Reed owned the whole block at one time between Church and Broad - really a shame that Chevy gave 'em the ax after all those years.
