I am doing some underhood clean up and paint and was wondering what the correct finish is for the T-400 switch bracket? It was black, and I blasted it back to bare metal. Just wondering what finish it should be. Thanks. :)

Not sure but something that can be of help in restoration is remove paint to observe the finish before glass beading and the like, plus in some cases blasting changes the texture of the material.
I'm thinking it is clear zinc on our 69 L78 Survivor Nova but not 100% sure. Are you referring to the kick down switch bracket?

Is this the part you are referring to?

Bob, Thanks for the pictures. Thats the part. With the paint off the mounting bracket, it looks just about like yours. Thanks again. :)

The bracket on mine I believe was dark phosphate. I think it was pretty nice and didn't have to refinish it. I'll look for a picture for and confirm it. George

I'll look at my '67 survivor too.

LVN 67 I wasn't sure if I had refinished the bracket, and I did, here is a current picture but I do remember it was a dark phosphate finish with light surface rust. Hope that helps you. George

Can you George take a picture of that carburetor linkage. I would like to see a proper linkage plate that hits that switch.

Here is the picture of the stricker, it was bear steel as found. George
