Title: Carburator Restoration
Post by: TooManyReels on December 20, 2013, 10:04:40 PM
I would like to get my carburetors restored to a new factory looking finish. Can anyone make a good recommendation for a company that can turn this around in a timely manner, and do what they say they will do.

Where are you located?  This place is north central IL., he restores a lot of Carbs. for Corvette (they're pretty picky).  He has 3 different levels of restoration, level 3 every piece is plated same as original.    http://www.thequadshop.net/

Eric Jackson or Jerry.
X2 vote for Eric as he's completed 4 for us and all great. Well respected among all car restorers and enthusiast.
Not sure what is going on but his website says he will be shut down until March or April 2014. Hope all is well as he's always been great to work with and a fine gentlemen.

Eddie, do some searches both here and team Camaro and you should find a lot of info. Happy Holidays to you! Your cross-ram carbs?

I had Holley refinish and rebuild mine, turned out great. I can't remember the turn around time though.

Thanks guys, I'll do some research. I was told that All American Carbs (in Fla.) did quality but when I pulled up their website the refinish looked to be somewhat darker in the plating process than original, so I wanted a few more opinions before sending them south.. I live outside Raleigh, NC.

If you're talking Q-Jets ; I've had good luck with this guy... http://www.sparkyscarbs.com/
He is local to me in Milwaukee; very knowledgeable about Q-Jets, that's all he works on.

Carb Junkies refinished the parts to their original finish. I have seen a lot of restored Q-jets plated with all the parts gold including the butterfly plates. My carb had silver primary and secondary butterfly  plates and that is how it was restored.
Turnaround was 16 days thereabouts.
