I bought a 67 Camaro convertible today. It has a 6 cyl and auto trans. I tried to look up the numbers on the pad near the distributor. All that I found was F0907FM. This was under paint which I cleaned away. I thought that a derrivitive of the vin should be located below the other number on the pad but there is nothing that I can see. The number above is in the center of the pad.
The casting number on the motor is 3877178 above GM which is above 4.
Can someone tell me, could this be the original motor for my car?

Yes
FM is a 1967 Camaro 250 cid with powerglide trans
You won't find a VIN on it. That was not done till 1968 and beyond. Prior to 68 was only on hi-perf engines

We need to know more about your car to be able to determine if the engine is original to your car, but it probably is.

What other information would you need to help determine if it is original?
