Hi Smitty,

The trim tag is usually covered either by the cowl color when the body is painted or during the firewall black process. Some can be a mixture of each (cowl and firewall black) because the firewall blackout didn't necessarily go to the top of the cowl.

Smitty, I split your thread and merged your two posts into one. Please reply to this one for your two questions. What are your questions regarding the BB A/C?

The cowl tag is one of the first components attached to the firewall, as such it will be painted with some combination of the body primer, body color, and firewall blackout paint (it will definitely have firewall blackout on it as the final finish, may have less amounts of body color).  It was never without some kind of paint coverage once the body left the paint shop at the factory.  The firewall behind the tag will not have any paint on it.
