Very interesting reading. How could someone send that kind of money not knowing the persons reputation. I have a hard time just sending a few hundred dollars for an item.

I agree. I don't know the guy, but if it was my vin that I saw popped up I would want to see it first hand and have some experts tell me that it is the real deal.
I did put a disclaimer just so somebody doesn't jump with both feet before they verify.

Here is another 'remanufactured 302' from the same locale (Angola IN).. although a different 'seller' identified.
I'm including a sample photo showing the bottom end with 'PINK' rods..  :)

Seems like these ads are setup to take advantage of 'less than fully knowledgable buyers'....

It could very well be the same scam of a guy. I didn't realize he was out of angola....
I few years back I was looking for a nice original wood grain 69 camaro steering wheel, and ended up purchasing one from a guy in angola off ebay. The one he sent looked like a new reproduction, after numerous emails I told him I was going to come to him in Angola and do the return in person. Some how I backed him into a corner and got my money back. At the time he was also selling some rare big block water neck as original, but I think he was just recasting them, as well as some rare intakes. I also started researching on the internet and found a court case where he scammed someone for a NOS cross ram. His defense was "I thought NOS stood for newer than original stock" or some B.S. The judge didn't buy it.

SORRY if this is in fact that same guy >:(

Nobody should have to deal with a slimy guy like that. If I were him I would worry about my health

Maybe Kurt can can change the topic of this thread and put a Warning sign at the beginning of it.
Maybe this will serve as a warning to fellow CRG members at what they should always lookout for!

If I was truly interested in buying an engine for that price especially if it belonged in my car and not trying to jerk the seller around I would travel to see it in person and tell the seller up front that I want a head removed while I am there to check for decking marks under it. Also, for that price I want to hear it run and if all looks legit (casting, VIN, broach, etc...) I will then hand over the money.

Just my opinion,
Mike
