Looking at buying my very first gen 1 car. I'm not the most mechanically inclined person. I'm looking at purchasing a 1968 camaro with a stroker engine. I have not seen in person. Seller did tell me the only rust spot he's been able to find is on the "very bottom in the very front of both rear quarter panels". Obviously rust is a bad thing but how bad is it in this spot and what's a ball park price in fixing it? Ill will try and get pictures.

The seller is the LAST person on earth that will give you an unbiased answer to that question. You have to have the car inspected prior to purchse. Don't even consider not doing it.
'60s cars, not just Camaros, were not well made to begin with and were never intended to last 45 years. Perforation of body panels is the least of the rust concerns; structural components such as frame rails, floor, roof and cowl panels are common rust areas on Camaros. They are often patched up enough so as not to be obvious and the owner may not be aware of prior poor repairs. The car needs to be thoroughly inspected on a lift by someone who knows where to look and what to look for. Pictures won't get the job done.

William is 100% correct! I've seen too many cars even after review were many times worse when the paint was removed and you saw first hand what one had.

Many posts on this ,I just listed what was common problems-----over 30 years ago. By now all areas should be under suspicion. A good percentage of these cars may be on their 3rd build. Around here by the late 70's most were beginning to rot out. My friend/body man has stories of cars he fixed for people that spent big $$ for pretty pictures on line only to discover a host of problems under paint. Bright colors still hide a lot. Dark cars will always " wave " to you.

And a stroker engine really means nothing. What's the complete package ?
