Title: 68 Console seat belt clip finish
Post by: 68rs327conv on October 06, 2013, 02:17:16 AM
Was the seat belt clip in the 68 console painted black or bare metal finish?

Appreciate a response from someone with an original console.

My console seat belt clip is painted black and has lots of scraped paint on the friction surfaces where the tongue and belt clasp interface, revealing a plated steel finish. Very original console. I have ONLY replaced the lid in 1985. It would be very difficult to photograph with the console assembled.

Thank you Jim for the information.  Looks like I need to go back and paint mine as it was originally black with some paint rubbed off and it is original.  Some of these vendor's would have you believe that the clip was not painted originally.  Oh well

Hmm, I thought that was a plated part, at least in 69......

My original is plated - no signs of paint on it.  It's silver, so either zinc or cad, but it looks more like zinc to me.
