Title: Strange hole in LH floor pan on transmission tunnel

I found a hole near the LH floor pan on the LH side of transmission tunnel about the size of a dime, was this a factory hole and any idea what it might have been used for?  See picture and hole below the gas pedal area

Definitely not a factory hole - have no idea why it was added.
