Funny how few of these cars have the grille emblem correctly positioned.....
-
It's a very *pretty* car, better than new in appearance... but the trim plate wasn't shown, nor any of the stamped codes, so who knows whether it's real or not, although the seller states it is... (the stance looks good too).. :)

They can never get the Z28 grill emblem in the right place can they; ZLP955?

I wonder if they even got it consistent or *right* in the factory... :) .. since there's no factory spec for it, and it will go on in various locations, and RS and std model grills are a bit different.. (take yours off and then see if you can put it back in the same location! :)
-
I can promise it would be in the same location
-
I agree the AIM is vague as to correct placement! I made sure to take many photos of the emblem position before removing it from the grille on my car.

Got him to send me a picture of the Cowl Tag. I remember this tag with the white line going thru it. I went to the search with the VIN and couldn't find it. Is this a real chevy tag? I think KurtS commented on this once before.... Danny
-
It looks like someone sanded down the numbers to make the letters stand out.
-
Damn, looks like a better version of mine. No clock and no standard steering wheel though. I like it.

'Prettier' isn't always an indication of 'better'.. :)
-
Tag is real. Pad looks OK.
-
KurtS, Have you seen this car before? How do you know the pad looks good, as there is no picture of it in THIS auction. I asked him to send me one and he said his camera wouldn't take a clear shot of it. I know I have seen this cowl tag before more than once. Can you post the picture for reference if you have it?.... tag and vin line up...

Obviously, the paint on that car is 'way over restored', and gorgeous, although not 'factory correct'.. but when I viewed the photos, the 'color' seemed 'blue' to me, as opposed to silver.. Note: my display is calibrated so that displayed colors are accurate typically. That 'blueness' may have been in their lighting or their camera, but each time I look at it, it seem like a 'light blue tinted' silver. (and I have a Cortez Silver '69 Corvette for comparison..).. that car was photographed under fluorescent lights, which can tint towards the blue, so I've included one outside, and one inside of my car..

For color accuracy you need to use a lamp with at least a 5000-5500K (with 5500K being more accurate for Sun light at noon) temperature to get an accurate color display. Many typical home lamps are in the 3000-4000K range which is shifted towards warmer hues (yellows/reds) and lacking in the cooler spectral ranges that contain blues/violets. That is why outdoors or 5500K lamp rating is best for color representation in photography.

Gary, you got me droolin' man. Your Vette is saaaweeeet!!!
When I first looked at that ebay Z I thought it was glacier blue. I actually like the color that it looks like it has. Different.
-
Yes, I thought it was blue as well... it may be mostly the lights, but it does look like someone added a little blue to the silver mix. *G*.. OR maybe the clear coat helps with that too?
and Thanks re the corvette. I've only had that one 23 years... I repainted it lacquer about 16 yrs ago..

Car was for sale a couple of months ago.

Where should the Z/28 emblem be?
-
Attached is a picture of my first Z/28 bought new in 1969. This is the correct placement

Interesting, I think mine sits a little lower?

Should be centered vertically on the grille as shown above, at least every original car I've looked at has the emblem placed like that.
-
Your right. Just looked high in the pic.
