Title: Front coil springs
Post by: sixt9x33rs on August 25, 2013, 03:19:58 AM: I have a set of relatively new front springs and I don't know what they were built for? A small block or big block? Is there any way to tell?

Post by: jvb6648 on August 26, 2013, 03:09:45 AM: I replaced the springs that were in my small block when I bought it. Pretty sure those were big block springs. That's 40 years ago. They had a free height of 16.5 inches. The small block springs I just replaced them with are 14.98 inches. I know spring dia. matters but hope this helps.

Post by: Mark on August 26, 2013, 05:14:39 PM: look at the very ends of the spring coils, if they are MOOG springs there will be a 4 digit number stamped on the coil, usually very small and hard to see but they are there, maybe 2" from the end of the coil.

Post by: firstgenaddict on August 27, 2013, 11:52:45 AM: Like this these numbers are on the original Z28 springs... btw Lawrence I have a set of front springs with the last number of 25 they are listed for BB conv with about 200# extra weight.
