Title: touch up paint

Where should I go for a small bottle of touchup paint, I tried a local auto paint store and they could not help me.

Try a auto parts store, go figure, like O'Rielly's, Advance or Auto Zone. They all sell Duplicolor.

 Depends on what you're touching up....... a 2012 chevy truck or a vintage vehicle that's been restored I'd think.The local dealership can provide a ready to use quality touch up paint while a body shop or paint supplier with a mixing station can mix a custom color for the vintage/restored vehicle.. Unless you have factory paint you're touching up you'll need the second choice..Just my 2 cents!

It really does depend what you are trying to accomplish.
Do you have a 40+ year old factory lacquer paint job you need to fix a rock chip?
Do you have a 20 year old enamel job trying to fix a chip? or worse
Is it a recent base clear job?

If you want it to look okay, then follow RSR's suggestion.  Otherwise you touchup may show up worse than a chip.

If it is original Lacquer paint then you must use lacquer to touch it up and you need someone who understands the limits and how to tint the paint.

Fortunately black doesn't have to be tinted...
