Title: Chambered Pipe Vs. Regular Muffler Bracket hole for 1969 Z28?
Post by: llskis on July 12, 2013, 06:05:56 PM
Are the bolt holes(in the body) that holds the straps for the Chamber Pipe Muff. and the bolt holes for the regular muffler system in  the same identicle location? The location is
above the Transverse Muffler for both systems.  In both cases it holds staps(different) that bend downward and go behind the clamps on both systems. I hope I am
eplaining this correctly. Thanks-Larry

Yes body mounting locations and screws for the hangers are the same. The hangers above the axle are shorter/different..

Just a followup with a question. Everything installed nicely. Looks/Sounds great. On observation looking at the muffler from the rear of car is looks very nice
and equal distance from the floor. (This is with the car on the floor; jackstands removed) But when I take a measurment with a ruler there is a 1/2" difference
from the floor. The driver side is closer to the floor then the passenger. The AIM does not give any specs on this. If anybody out there with a chamber pipe option
can you measure yours? Is mine within the limits? When I installed the new hanger on the driverside I used a floorjack to raise the system up. Comments Please!
Thanks in advance--Larry

your car itself may be 1/2" lower on the driver side....  it's not uncommon after years of having a single passenger (the driver).. :)

69Z28: Thanks for the response. Never thought of that; where would be a good accurate place to take that measurment on the car?
Thanks--Larry

If you have an AIM for '69 models I believe it probably give the road clearance specs near the front of it (I know the '68 version I have does)besides showing the measurement reference points as well..

There are measures for the front most and rear most of the lower rocker panel surfaces in the AIM as well..  I suspect that might be the best points for the body measures to get road height.
