...currently at my brother's awaiting shipment back east.

...Have to keep an eye on it, ...it's amazing who you'll find snoopin' around  ;)
(of course a big thanks to the photographer for taking the pics after I headed home  :) )

Looks good!  Have you tried the title search?

Do you (or does anyone) know how exactly I'd go about the title search? (call DMV in CA?)

The CA DMV web site never actually refers to a "title search".
But this seems like a likely place to start from their site:

Who To Contact

Driver License (DL)/Identification (ID) Card or Vehicle Registration
Submit your request on the appropriate form. Forms available online are identified by For the following forms (up to 15 copies each), call (916) 657-8098 or write DMV Information Release Unit, M/S G199, P.O. Box 944247, Sacramento, CA 94244-2470. For large quantities of forms, write to: DMV Materials Management Unit, 4201 Sierra Point Drive, #112, Sacramento, CA 95834-1998.

Hey Kevin..
Nice 67.. hope you enjoy..
Are you looking for the title from the original owner? or just want to be able to register it here?( i am in NY state also)
I have a 1st Gen too.. and i was able to register it with only a written bill of sale from another state.. I can fill you in if you need...
Good luck
Wally

"...67 with astro vent?"       ...has A/C.

Phil, ...thanks for the info. I'll check out the CA DMV website and see what I can track down.

Wally,  I'd like to find the original owner (but I don't expect I'll get any names from any DMV office). I at least hope I might be able to locate the dealership it was originally sold from. All I know so far is the lady that owned it since 1972 purchased it from a used car lot in southern CA.
...As for registering it, ...already done (in Nevada using my brother's addr.), ...with these plates:

Hey Kevin
Good luck with your search!
The car looks very nice!
Maybe we can get very cool plates here in NY someday...?

The car is amazing and is loaded with originality. You should see underneath this car. Incredible.
What's amazing is that while I was walking around it, parts keep jumping into my pockets. DOH!  :o

Kidding!  ;D

Can't wait to see it again.

Kevin

Ah yes -

Hot August Nights - First week of August every year in Reno and the adjacent city of Sparks, NV.

Since moving to Minden, NV (55 south of Reno - due east of Lake Tahoe in the Carson Valley) from Baton Rouge in June 2001, I set aside 1 week of vacation so I can enjoy one of the biggest classic car events in the country.  5,500 registered cars, probably another 2000 non-registered cars, and an estimated 800,000 visitors to the area for the 10 day event.  Anyone who is a pre-1973 car enthusiast can't go wrong to drop in and see the show if you're ever in the area at that time.

And a very nice find on the '67 - enjoy!
