Okay, maybe it's just me... ::)
My rear seat bottom is difficult to put in and not have a small gap between bottom and top.
The seats and hardware are original and a bit brittle, so I'm afraid to just shove the bottom in place. All the hardware looks like it lines up right. The top looks properly seated.
Does anyone have a trick or angle about installing it? ???

The tight ones are a pain. I've been able to use my leggs to push the frame far enough to catch retaining hooks. If your front seats are in, it's better to be short!

Are you pushing straight forward with your legs? As the bottom goes back, it seems to slide up; but then, it settles down with that gap...

Rear seat top hangs on two hooks and is even with the rear deck.
The bottom of the tseat rear is held by two lag bolts.
The rear seat bottom is rolled into place.
Hook the frame under the top and push back the bottom of the seat just over the floor hook and lower into place.
There will be tension pushing the seat bottom forward.
Do the other side the same way.

In the end I got a friend to help me, and we pushed on both sides equally. That took care of it!

thats funny, ever since I bought my car I have wanted to take the back seat out just to see if there are any more receipts, build sheet, etc. I worked at for a about 15 minutes and gave up. I figured it wan't meant to be just yet. Usually they come out easier than they go in, not in my case....I will have to give it another try at one point, I am not sure the seat has ever been out.

I would spend the time to get it out and look see what's under there. My case there were what was left of two joints and three .38 bullets, and all other kinds of knick knacks, cracker jacks etc. Not good when your employed by the USAF and pass thru security every day with the chance of getting pulled over and searched by drug dogs.

Well, the original owner of my car was good about keeping notes o the car and every receipt. He just wasn't all that great about organizing them. I found a couple of receipts under the drivers seat carpet. So I thought there may be an extra one under the rear seat. It would be nice just to check it out. To bad they never put the build sheet back there, this is a car that would have preserved it if they had.

Shouldn't it be hard to pull out, especially straight out? Otherwise, it would come out anytime someone rode in the back seat. That was my problem...

I was thinking there was some hooks under the seat that held it in place. I tried pushing the seat in far enough to get over the hooks, but as I said I must be to weak...

Back seats can be a pain. There are normally "hooks" at the front edge mounted to the floor. Slide the back edge of the seat under the seat back. get it all the way back. Then at the bottom edge of the front of the seat, where the hooks are located push HARD to get the seat frame over and behind the hooks. Tension should snap the frame in, and hold it there. Not normally any fun, you may need help pushing hard enough to get it in place. Might be a touch easier than removing the seat bottom.

You can look under the seat with a flashlight and see the hooks.
Lay your head sideways on the floor and find the hooks...
Use a pry bar to "push back" or un-hook the one spring wire held by the floor hook.
You can do one side at a time....
I use this trick at the junk yards to get seats out that are really really stuck.

I will give that a whirl. The nice thing about dong it in the junkyards, is you don't have to worry about the seat cover. I was trying to be super careful and not bend anything more than I needed to. "There could be nothing under seat" thats what I told myself last time when i walked away from it... :P

I recently fixed my rear seat. It was always real hard to remove. Then I notice one of the frames bars (where the hooks go) was bent. straightened that. Then I noticed that the two sides that make up the hook were not even. one side was longer, so I trimmed that a little and reshaped it to match the other side. now it slips in with less force :)
