Title: Interior replacement
Post by: davoutdog on June 18, 2013, 05:51:56 PM
I am having my 69 RS Z28 restored.  The dash pad and carpet are a must.  I will also do the seat foam.  The guy doing the work says the seat covers will probably not survive the new foam and that is okay by me.  He recommends the door panels as well as he says what I am replacing will make them look dull.  I want to be as original as possible and am planning on seeing what it looks like with the mandatory replacements first.  Any thoughts on value impact as well as any options and overall asthetics will be appreciated.

I would leave the original door panels on if they are in good shape,if they look a little dull shine them up.If you want to keep it as original as you can refurbish what you have.

Agree but also agree when seats are redone other interior pieces can look kinda tired. I'd suggest looking at having Al Knoch restore your door panels which help ensures a good fit vs. fit up issues with repro door panels. They did my entire interior and a friends along with others I've seen and it's top notch.

Hey Chick when did Knoch start doing '69 stuff? I ask him to do some work for me and he said he only did '67 and '68.

Replacement, if you go that way, is best from Legendary Auto Interiors.  Their website is HERE (http://www.legendaryautointeriors.com/)

Daniel, they did my friends entire 69Z red interior (seats & door panels) and he owns a restoration shop and he was very pleased. Heck that was the year before last. When were you told they do not do 69 interiors?
