20+ years ago the intake (one it was born with) off my 302 was coated by Jet Hot. No issues other than I want to go back to the natural finish. I have ran into a dead end as far as removal of the product. Want to get it out to CHP but coating needs to come off per J.M. Jet Hot would rather leave their product on it, a company out of Texas ( runs 409's) offered to try blasting it ,no real guarantees. Need some input , thanks.

What have you tried so far? I assume you tried glass beading? Did you contact the coating company to ask them? I would think it would take some type of abrasive, but how aggressive is the question???? Might want to think about obtaining a decent unmolested intake to give Jerry.

Done nothing so far except inquire, Jet Hot could do it but lean towards recoating it . I spoke with a tech who worried about the integrity of the aluminum if they removed the ceramic and sent it back to me , however recoating it would be fine? Spoke with somebody out of Lamar Walden's shop ( Georgia , I posted Texas earlier) a few weeks ago. They could blast it off but not sure how it would effect the overall finish/re skin. Now the intake is in great shape ,looks good just not original. So this is my dilemma.

I asked the local Harley dealer. He says the Jet Hot tech is giving you the straight story. Some H-D owners use it to get looks like black on black.

It's possible that you may ruin the manifold trying to restore it. Try bead/media blasting it. If it doesn't work you will have to find another manifold to send to Jerry if you want to go back to original.

Want to compete in street stock ( day 2 ) and imagine I'd get gigged in points for the coating, reading over the score sheet for the Camaro nats and wondering how many. Shooting for next summer so plenty of time to make a decision.

you'd probably best trade it to someone who wants the Jet Hot look.. trade for a decent stock one to 'recoat'....

I agree try the beadblast first, if not I would source another manifold not having a non born with intake wouldnt kill you to me its more about block/heads ect plus date code cant be easily seen

Yea , I'm starting to scan the ads, CHP has one done off a 69, something will surface.
