Hey Guys,
Came across this on EBay. The rivets don't look right but I was wondering about the tag its self.
-
Here it is enhanced to see it better....I am not going to guess, cause I have been wrong lately about 50% of the time. And that sucks. I wish I had more knowledge. But of course the rivets are store bought. Danny

Well the rivets are not original so that should raise a red flag that the tag while it maybe real may not be from this vehicle. Compare the vin number to the date and see if it fits ballpark, CRG reports these specs for Dec 1968 production : 9N551863 to start the month and 9N569987 as the last vin for the month for a total of 18125 units produced.
The paint code looks like dash dash what color is the vehicle now?

Here is a link to the car.

Well the vin does line up with production stats for December 1968 and 568344 does put it at the end of the month so week C seems to be right.
But on the other hand its got a 427 and five speed so does the tag really mean anything it is no longer a real Z/28 without the original power-train IMHO.

True, unless he has other documentation.
Tag removal/rivet replacement without any other documentation or drivetrain for the car doesn't spell good for any vehicle.
Tag looks correct, rivets perfectly bogus IMO.

It will always be a Z....
Tag looks original to the car. Wonder what the color was?

I am still learning new facts on these cars, I did not know a 12C ,1968 build date had an X code, this must be one of the first .

X codes started in the second week of Dec. 1968 with the 12B build cars.
