Title: manual trans neutral switch
Post by: lynnbilodeau on May 15, 2013, 04:48:24 AM
Did the late 69 manual trans cars use the white plastic switch used on the 70 models?

I know the early cars had the round metal switch.

I have never seen the white 70 switch on 69, A friend has a 11B/69 and it has the metal switch like below.

Lynn,
assuming that the 'neutral safety' switch is the same as what I've called the 'Rev LO switch' ??  (see photo)
... then Yes, my late 09C Z28 has the white plastic switch.   THis is my original column and switch; never been exchanged or removed until I took the column out for cleaning a couple of months ago.  My car was built approx  17 Sept 1969.

Meant the switch on the clutch pedal, not the reverse light switch.
I believe the automatic cars have the neutral switch integrated with the reverse light switch.

Was pretty sure it took the round metal switch on the clutch pedal, but I have one of the plastic 1970 switches, and have no idea where it came from.

Thanks.

Lynn,

it's located on the clutch pedal lever?    I've never looked at mine..    but I'll peek under there and see..  :)
so basically it's the switch that ensures you have the clutch pushed in to start the car.. (a 'clutch-engaged' switch).  :)
I haven't driven that car since 1980... my memory is going. :)

Gary.

You gotta really look up in there to see it.

I happen to have most of my instruments out of the way right now, so it's not difficult to see..
Mine is a metal cyclindrical can wtih black plastic cap (terminal end?)...  I could probably get numbers off it if you wanted ..

My original switch has black plastic just like the one Hans posted too, although it's not a late '69 car....
