Title: License plate light Q's
Post by: Rufcar on April 22, 2013, 08:46:48 PM
Today after removing the bumper, I noticed that the License plate light was not connected to anythng? Plus its so far gone its beyond saving. Which wire in the rear harness does it get connected too?

'69's have a connector stubbed out on the outside of the harness wrap inside the trunk - the pigtail plugs into the harness. There is a rubber grommet that seals the wire where it goes through the panel into the trunk interior - if I remember correctly, it should be part of the pigtail on the light.

Going from memory - I'll have to look at the NOS one (wherever I've hidden it).

Regards,
Steve

My 69 has a two wire connector as z28z11  has said.  The wires into the connecter are brown and tan, also at the same point on the trunk harness a black wire comes out of the wrap to a ground screw on the lock assembly support brace.

I forgot to say only the brown wire coming out of the plug goes to the license plate light, the tan wire goes through a grommet over the fuel filler neck and runs to the  meter in the fuel tank.   Sorry its been a long Monday..............
