Title: Verify if NOS Door Mirror is real
Post by: jack on April 10, 2013, 01:15:42 PM
HI Everyone,

I just purchased a NOS left door mirror GM# 3914753 for my 1969 Camaro SS convertible X55. Inside the foot of the mirror I see numbers  HA 610 71. I don' see any where the product number 3914753 stamped.

I just want to know if I bought the real thing.

Thanks

Jack

3914753 is the correct part number for the 69 Camaro (among others), and HA 61071 is one of the casting numbers (among others) used for the base. However, this would be a later issue (1980's, 90's, etc...) mirror and the manufacturers code on the glass will probably be DCA with an R in a circle instead of the original DMI. What's the ebay auction number?

Hi,

On my mirror it's  1-DMI-9, so January 1969.
My ebay number was  330867907618, I did purchase it. The seller said it was a New old stock.  However the seller has a second NOS door mirror GM# 3914753   ebay:
Item number 230960650799.

thanks

You got it from Heartbeat city so I won't comment on the authenticity of the mirror. Sorry.

Being new and wanting to put the most NOS products on my numbers matching 69 Camaro. I just wanted to see if the numbers on the mirror tell me this is authentic.

unfortunately, the HA 61071 casting number on the base is also used on a lot of the repop mirrors, so there's no way to tell for sure.

If you'd like, I'll dig my R&L NOS mirrors out of storage tomorrow and post pics of them. I bought both of them from GM in the early 80's (I wanna say $17.00 apiece), and they are still where I put them 30 years ago or so. If I remember correctly, they are DMI's, not DMA's.

Regards,
Steve

Thanks Steve

Ed and Troy did confirm me that they think my mirror is a NOS. But it you have time, it will be nice to see your pics - casting number and mirror DMI.

Take Care

I bet you would, too. Do you think I could ask $300.00 for the $279.00 quarter panels I bought in '85 ? How bought the $86.00 ZL2 hood in '74 ? I bet it would bring at least a $100.00 -

Gee, don't you wish someone would go on and invent a decent time machine - but then, someone else would get wise to the guy who went back and bought all of the crossram kits up, hoarded COPO's, Yenkos and ZL-1's, and won all the lotteries.

Steve
