Title: 69 owners manual question.
Post by: 69Z28 on March 13, 2013, 05:42:47 PM
I'm in the market for an OEM owners manual for my 06A Z and I have noticed that all the ones I have seen on ebay are First Edition August 68's. Were there other dates printed or was that First Edition use throughout the whole production run?

I would be interested if a second edition is correct for my 06A. Just curious though why your 05A is a first edition and Edgmontvillage's 04C is a 3rd edition. A couple of weeks difference but backwards? Wondering if the books just go into a bin like situation and the line people just grab one.

And to Totaly confuse this post, Canadian Delivered Camaros  & Z28 use a Different One. This is my owners manual out of my 06A RSZ28, I have owned the car since 73, it was in the glove box with the original Protecto Plate. It is second edition Dec/68

That is good to know. I had no idea they would be different. Curious now as to what the difference is in the printed material. I'm not anywhere near another person that has a 69 z28 let alone a Canadian model to compare anything.

Gary, there is a nice Third Edition Owners Manual listed on eBay Item # 400435738472 .

My original manual for my 06A SS - although missing the first several pages, does have a remark on the additional manuals page "prices subject to change after July 1 1969"

There's one on PHOENIX CRAIGSLIST (http://phoenix.craigslist.org/wvl/pts/3670346600.html), but the picture is blurry and I can't make out what edition it is.

A quick correction. My 05A owners manual is second edition. I may have a third edition laying around if needed. When I bought my car back in 1978, I didn't get the owners Manuel with the car ( who cared in 78!). Two years ago, I looked him up on the Internet, and invited him over to take the car for a blast. He couldn't believe I still had the car. When he came over, he had the dealership envelope(H.M. Williams)the owners manual, and a picture of the car from 1976. The vin is handwritten inside the owners manual. He is somewhat sure that he has the protect- o-plate somewhere. Not bad for thirty five years later!

I bought a '69 Corvette roadster, 350/350 4sp (loaded) in 1988; I knew all the prior owners (3).. at the time of purchase none of them could find the protecto plate.. :(  ..   but several years later, the seller dropped it by my house, in the envelop, with the owners manual/guide, etc..  :)

Thanks guys. Well I won the third edition, April 1969 manual I bid on on ebay. $12.19 plus $3.70 shipping. Hopefully others will see this post and we can see how many editions were actually printed. Really has me curious now. Maybe we can add this information to CRG for reference?

$12...that's a deal, nice ones usually trade on eBay for 3x-5x that price, well done. Do you have the poly bag for it, an important detail.

I was going to bid against you, but I let the end time slip past me..  :)

Hey Gary, you and I were the only ones to bid on that manual. I had put in a bid for another one earlier and the seller sent me an email saying it was a first edition and the back cover was torn and he would understand if I wanted to retract my bid, so I did. That's when I posted my question here. I find it hard to post against someone I met here or T.C. It's a pretty tough decision to make knowing someone else needs that part too, but on the other hand I needed it, so it would have been WAR man. LOL :)

Gary, I found my third edition manual. Send me your address and I will send it to you for inspection. If you like it, we will work out a price.

Hi Buddy,
I sent you a personal message re your manual.   I was noticing your list of cars.. you have some nice ones..  The 99 orange SS sounds sweet (LS1?), as well as the 70 Z28.   All those are cars I've *desired* at one time or another.  I actually owned a '70 Z28 (orange) at one time, but stupidly sold it for lack of garage space.  I should have built my garage more quickly instead!  :)

Thanks. I ran out of garage space too! I bought a summer house with a two car garage!

I think I do, but not sure. If I do it's burried somewhere. Do you have a spare?

My 9B of 68 has first edition, my 4C has the second edition, and my 9A of 69 has third edition.
