Title: 69 camaro rocker panel repair/patch structural question
Post by: conester on February 18, 2013, 03:48:08 PM
I'm new to this forum and new to the classic car hobby, so I hope I am posting this in the right place. I bought my 69 Z/28 replica back in Nov and I've been working on it for a couple months fixing this/re-doing that to get it up to spec for the shows come spring. I am working on the passenger side rocker panel now. The top surface and one of the side surfaces are in need of a 36" patch (outer rocker panel) and I wanted to ask if anyone thinks there will be any issue with me cutting out the patch without extra bracing? The inner rocker is still there as is 75% of the outer rocker panel even with the section out that I need to replace, so I'm thinking there is enough support there, but I just wanted to double check with you all since I'm new to all this. So what do ya think?

Thanks!!!

Brian

Go ahead and cut it out. As long as the interior structure is still sound shouldn't be a problem. Happens every day.
