Title: Dash Light illumination when starting engine
Post by: camaroman1969 on January 20, 2013, 02:39:40 AM
Hi Gang!!!  I'm new here so bear with me.  I own a 1969 Camaro SS/RS.  I've noticed other Camaros that when started, the generator and temperature dash lights come on when starting the engine.  My car has been re-stored and the lights are intact and have been tested  OK also.  Question: where do I started to look to correct this??  My car also has "console gauges".  I've seen cars with console gauges, and there cars dash lights, light up too.  Any help will be appreciated.  Thanks!!   Don

You shouldn't have dash lights except low fuel and brake, at least on 68's.

If you have original factory installed gauges you won't have a temp light circuit. The gen light will come on in the run position before turning to the crank position, once started and returned to run position the light will go off. It is triggered by the Voltage Regulator -  If you still have the original charging system in place.
