Just recieved an outer door handle for my '69. I bought it on =bay, part#3064224 it is a RH. Of course, I am dissappointed >:(. Live and learn, it is not like the original, too thin in the handle area. My question is how do I know it is even a GM part or a Chinese part put in a GM box? There is no part # cast into the backside. I thought that I had read the repro's did not have the right shape and that is why I needed to get NOS. I searched the forum and could not find any usable info. I must have read it on another site. I primarily just use this site as it is credible and has probably the most members interested in originality.

It is probably a gm piece, but they changed the part in the early 80's. the originals are called "fat" handles. I put new ones on my 69 z-28 in 82 and got skinny handles. Luckily I saved the originals and have had them rechromed.

I am in the same boat, I got lucky as I have a NOS set of fat handles
and I still have the OEMS which I plan to re-chrome... :)
Does anyone know of a good place to have chrome work done?
I am in CT where the environmental laws have resulted in closing
99% of the chrome shops...IMHO i.e. :-\
PS it is the same for 68 Camaro's... they had the fat handles too..

The chromer I've used the past 15 years is A-1 Plating, 2009 Missouri Street Tuscumbia, AL 35674
(256) 381-6170. Give them a call...

On team Camaro is this used OEM pair...
i would think you can find these needing to be re chromed readily
