Title: 3782461 Head value
Post by: jdv69z on January 07, 2013, 09:40:59 PM
Not to high jack, but since you mentioned Vette heads, does head 3782461 have any value? Dated I 11 4. Think it's from a '64 Vette. Valve size 1.94.

I went ahead and split your post.

That would be for a 1965 model year and if it's 1.94, it was used on the 327/250 and 327/300 engines. Yeah, a $100 or so (maybe more for the right buyer).

I'd be inclined to think you will not sell them quickly unless as Ed said someone needs them or you have them super cheap. And not many rodders looking for them either as it's either LS motors or alum. heads. But more important, are they all together (valves, etc) and seem usable?

The 461 casting was used on Corvettes from 1961-1966; in '65-'66, it was the only head used on 327's - 300hp engines used them machined for 1.94/1.5 valves, and 350/365/375hp engines used them machined for 2.02/1.6 valves, with an unshrouding cut in the chamber wall adjacent to the intake valve. The same machining carried over later on the 462, 291, and 186 castings used with 2.02 valves.

Thanks, I only have the 1 bare head. Didn't think it was worth too much, but since it could be a Vette head, thought maybe there might be someone looking  for the date or maybe some other reason. Can't verify its condition either, other than it "looks OK".
