Anyone know where to source the grommet for the tach wire on a 69 Camaro?
Picture on paga A1 of U16 in the AIM. Says grommet is part of the wire assy. But the wire assy I bought doesn't have the grommet.
Big surprise, the aftermarket let me down.
The aim also says the hole should be 17/32, but mine is 31/64.
If it were 17/32 I think a distributor wire grommet would work.

I Think AMK still sells it.
FYI The conversions I have done using the quality American AutoWire "Factory Fit" line Tachometer harness - The Tachometer lead is actually routed through the bulkhead connector at position A-X so the hole if present is not used - no grommet needed or included in the kit.

Thanks. Will give them a try.
I have the "Factory Fit" kit, but would like to route it as the factory did. Not just for originality, but if I don't, then there is an exra hole in my firewall because the car came with a tach.

Not sure what I was thinking. 17/32 is correct. It is just over 1/2 inch. Doh!!! I was thinking 16/64.

Try American Auto Wire grommet part number 500179 for $4.
It requires a 1/2" hole and accepts an ~18ga wire.
Download their catolog and see pg 71 (2011)
I dare say that AWW use exactly this grommet on their tach harness'.
Classic Industries use the same part number and are $5.
