Title: Camaro Mats
Post by: enio45 on December 16, 2012, 10:23:48 PM
I have been saving a set of NOS front mats for my 69 camaro - number on the box says 993668 - Dark Green front set

Today i finally took them out of the box after 14 yrs and they look to be med green instead of the dark green.  The number on the mat 3949520 L&R

Does anyone have a cross ref to determine if these mats are correct for a dark green interior?   They just seem too light for the dark green interior that i have - but maybe there were this way originally?

Appreciate the advise

My 1969 Accessories Catalog states that the part number for Dark Green Front floor mats is indeed #993668.  Here is a link to an earlier thread about the mats and it seems that the #3949520 was a common number regardless of color.  The ones shown in the link appear to be black in color and have the same number.

Jerry thanks for the info - seems there has to be some color number on the mat somewhere.

Do you or someone know, that if you got floor mats with your car in 69 and u had a dark green interior, did you get a dark green mat or maybe u got black or the med green like i have?

Ed, my 70 Z project has a dark green interior, and has dark green mats. They look just like the mats in my 69 Z.

My car has the 725 Midnight Green deluxe interior and the original factory dark green mats, and the passenger side mat has "P.P.I. 4320R-1" and "3949520" molded on the back side, near the rear edge; the driver's side mat has the same numbers, except it has "L-1" instead of "R-1". The numbers were in the mold, so all colors should have the same numbers on the mats, but the sets boxed by colors sold over the counter would have different part numbers on the box.

John, are the mats - consistent with the color of the carpet - say midnight green or a lighter green - more like the med green interior color?>

were these ordered with the car or over the counter for your car?

They're dark green, and were ordered with the car.

John, look over here at the SYC site where i posted pics and let me know if they look like this?   does your window sticker say dark green or midnight green?

Mine is 07A Norwood Car. My car is Dark Green and the mats are way darker than those in the picture. I truly believe the ones pictured are Medium Green. . Original mats were all to pieces and faded but look close to the replacements I bought.

The mats in your photo definitely aren't dark green - they're some much lighter shade. The factory-installed mats are dark green (see photo below), and match the dark green carpet with the Midnight Green deluxe interior. I don't have the original window sticker, but it's listed on the Canadian docs as "725 Midnight Green Deluxe Vinyl Interior". The factory-installed mats aren't scissor-trimmed to fit the application like the GM accessory over-the-counter mats were.

OK John, thanks for the feedback and insight - i believe you are correct - from a mat perspective and color they are considered dark green - which from an interior color - med green is consistent wtih the color.

Im sure then the color im looking for is the midnight green mats - soooo, im on the lookout for an nos set for the front and back if anyone knows of a set.

thanks again for everyones time.....
