Wrong oil fill for 69 too.

Also wrong Thermostat Housing, I'm pretty sure only '67 and '68 Z28 302's used those. I believe #3877660 was used on ALL '69 Engines.

Heat shield was never factory installed. Strickly over the counter service part. I backed to back one of these back in the '70's at the race track, no difference in performance at all. You are also prone to cracking your carb base plate with these too as the shield has a thicker gasket on one side and if you're not carefull, CRACK!

I doubt you'd see any difference in performance either UNLESS you have percolation issues.. Then, I think the shield would help a great deal. I use one only for this reason and I believe it's easily worth it's weight in help..
They come with a thick 3/16"gasket which also helps prevent heat transfer, but is really there to provide clearance for the 30cc accelerator pumps.. FWIW, using two gaskets is required if you have a 50cc pump, but at WOT, the pump arm may still just touch the shield. ..and yes, be careful tightening the carb nuts. I progressively tighten them in a diagonal sequence.
OER who are providing repro of this shield are stapling the heavy 3/16" gasket to the underside of the shield which is incorrect.. I assume this is a mis-communication between English and Chinese and lack of quality control.

That's exactly why these shields were originally installed on all 1970 models with EEC (Evaporative Emission Control). EEC generated a lot of heat and caused carburetor percolation. Even on the 2BBL carbs!

Another way to go which is better all the way around is use of the Fel Pro .300" thick carb insulator gasket. We are allowed to use this in Stock Eliminator too. There are prov-en hp gains on the dyno with this gasket and the added bonus is the fact that there are four hardened plastic sleeves for all four carb base holes so there is no risk of breaking your carb base. It's also invisible when installed on the engine too. I have many street engine 302 guys out there running these and the results are very good.

Does anyone have the part number for the good FelPro insulator gasket for a Holley carburetor? It is for a stock 302 z28. I can find the gasket for a Quadrajet but not for the square bore Holley. I would like the tick .300 gasket.

Couldn't find the FelPro gasket in square bore on Summit's site, but they do list two Edelbrock gaskets #9265 & 9266 (open or divider) and both are ~5/16" thick.
There is also Holley's 108-37 but is much thicker @ 5/8".

There are a couple of gaskets available for the Holley square bore. These are Holley part numbers, but you can probably cross reference them to Fel Pro.
1. 108-12 (http://www.holley.com/108-12.asp) - Open center, 5/16" thick (Doesn't list the 4150 or 4160, so not sure if it will fit)
2. 180-18 (http://www.holley.com/108-18.asp) - 2 slot, 5/16" thick
3. 108-58 (http://www.holley.com/108-58.asp) - 4 hole center, .204" thick
4. 108-51 (http://www.holley.com/108-51.asp) - 4 hole center, 1/4" thick with bowl heat shields
