Title: 1969 Z28. CV or CZ Eaton Fan Clutch?
Post by: Fast67velleN2O on October 19, 2012, 08:51:24 PM
I sold a 1969 CV fan clutch assembly recently and for some reason, the buyer (now) doesn't seem to think its original to 1969 Z28.  He claims CZ was used originally instead.  I was always under the assumption that CV = Z28 and CZ = L78/COPO.  Looking for someone to set the record straight once and for all.

Matt -

Your assumption is correct; the L78/COPO used part number 3946050 (stamped CZ) and the Z28 used 3946804 (stamped CV), both were Eaton-supplied units.

Paul,

Thanks for your reply.  He claims to have read that portion of the camaros.org Cooling Systems page and still contends that it explains that Z28 Camaros received the CZ for some reason.  I'm just looking to send him a thread where the consensus is that the Z28 Camaro received the CV fan clutch assembly.
