3957935 AND 395936 WERE THE 69 Z28 EMBLEM FENDER PART #S. Ive heard gm went to the 935 solely ,and used it as lh and rh sides. Is this tue and when did it happen? thanks

I remember in the 80's when you purchased them they were the same part #. Noticed no one had responded so dug out my GM April, 1983 parts book and it shows only #3957935 with no designation to left or right and states two (2) are needed. Not sure exactly when it started. Who's got a 70's GM parts book out there to assist with the question ;D

My '69 Chevrolet P&A list 3957935 for the left side and 3957936 for the right side.
On a side note; the "Z/28" emblems for a '68 Z28 are 3947011 for the left side and 3947012 for the right side. On 2-15-69 these emblems cost a whopping $3.65 each!

Hey Paul, I have a pair of 68 Z/28 emblems purchased in the 80's and same thing as the 69 Z emblems, one part # for both sides. Might have been around $10 then.... Darn inflation!

My z/28 emblems are 3943256 RH & 3943255 LH
The ORIGINAL assembly line part numbers for the 1968 Z28 emblems were 3943255 and 3943256. The casting number underneith will say 3943255-LH and 3943256-RH. Service replacements were part number 3947011 and 3947012, and will say 3943255-6 underneith.

The ORIGINAL assembly line part numbers for the 1969 Z28 emblems were 3949681 and 3949682. The casting number underneith will say 3949681-LH and 3949682-RH. Service replacements were part number 3957935 and 3957936, and will say 3949681-2 underneith.
In the April, 1977 P&A you could still get both the 3957935 and the 3957936. In the April, 1981 P&A you could only get the 3957935, so they discontinued the 3957936 sometime between these two dates. Sorry I can't narrow it down more.

Were the emblems NOS or possibly used? What a surprise that must have been or were they advertised that way?
Good buy.... :)

Here's an example of the 3949681-2 casting number Ed mentioned above...

Since I'm a packrat and hoarder, I still have the new emblems I purchased in September 1978, as well as the order form which I've scanned and attached (if I did it correctly). The order form shows both 935 and 936 parts being ordered, but the 936 beiing replaced/substituted by the 935 part on delivery. I pulled the parts from the boxes and both had the 3949681-2 pn on the back. Since my original emblems are off my car and in bags, I then checked those and found both to have only P-394968 on the back. My car is a late 09C production.

That's very possible. They could have used more than one casting mold or made slight casting changes over the course of the year.

This is an old thread, but for info: GM part history shows that GMPN 3957936 was dispositioned to "USE 3957935" in December 1981.
