Heartbeat City doesn't sell the bolts separately, so you'll have to buy the whole shackle kit...

These folks have just about ANY bolt you will ever need to fit your car. Some will not be spot on in appearance but they will be a direct/correct replacement. I bought the whole kits and replaced all the bolts in my car when we did my restoration.

Daniel is correct and this is the difference in bolt heads. The bolt on the left is one of my restored originals.

Chick,
Is that black phosphate on the original bolt?

Thanks,
Mike

I used AMK a lot for correct fasteners on my restoration, and they are great, when you have a part # to refer to.   The only problem with AMK is they have a $30 minimum policy.  I used to make up a list, when I got around $30 I would place an order.  I have their catalog, and I did not see these bolts as a separate item.

It's best to get GOOD used originals, or NOS.  Because the reproduction market really is a crap shoot.

No Mike it is gray phosphate. Looks darker in the picture then how it looks in real life or against the black shackles. I used that and also med. gray phosphate with hardware.

 Hi Chick,

As for the Marsden lock nuts, what did you use for that? All those I have ever seen for replacements were zinc plated instead of phosphate. Unless in '69 they were no longer zinc?

Thanks again,
Mike

Mike, hope I was correct but used the marsden nuts that came with the repro kit. Have done that on several hardware pcs. where the orig. bolts were restored but used the repro kits washers/nuts for a nice clean new look. Many times the nuts are pitted and just too rough for restoration IMO. If I'm wrong its an easy swap out :)

GM shackle repair kit #10003072 is the part number. Consists of bolts 5-5/16, plates, and bushings.

Unfortunately, 10003072 is a service repair kit and doesn't contain any of the correct "original" style items. The kit uses the 70 and up 5-5/16" long bolts. (The 1967-1969 Camaro used a 4-5/8" long bolt.) It also has lock nuts instead of the correct Marsden nuts and the shackles are the later version as well.

I have never once, ever, flicked through their catalog and spent less than $30 in the 10-15 orders I've placed with them in the last 10 years..
Yesterday I spent $270 plus postage to down here. They have too much great stuff ! :)
Mind you, I have a fastener fetish and more than several tackle boxes full of "stock"..
