Title: Upper Dash Windshield Bracket - 68 RS Conv
Post by: gkweber3 on October 04, 2012, 06:17:18 PM
Help - I screwed-up!

I replaced the upper dash with an aftermarket unit from NPD (after a little work, it fit well). Yesterday, I went to put the windshield in and found the aftermarket piece did not have holes for the 2 windshield support brackets or the 8 support clips. No problem you say - just take the measurements off the old one? Well, this is where I find that my scrap guy was too quick - the old one is gone. Does anyone have the locations.....or any other ideas?

Sent an email, with some pics, from my 67convert. I am currently not at home to get more exact measurements, but will be reurning by next Thursday, if someone has not chimed in.

Can anyone confirm if 68 and 69 are identical?
I have a buddy who has the front clip off his 68, so I could use it as a guide if they are the same.
I know the dash panels are different, just asking about the location for the holes for "L" brackets and the 8 moulding clips.  I need to put the front clip on Thurs.  I am having shoulder surgery Fri morning and will be out of commission for 6 weeks, and really need to get the car together.
Lots of old threads on this, but ALL of them, either here or at Team Camaro are lacking photos and dimensions.  Lots of "I will email you a pic" or the threads are so old the pics have disappeared.
Really need some help on this.  Crunch time.

Lynn I would think they are the same. I help a buddy put a new windshield in his '69 vert and it was a '68 glass.

Use the 68 you have as reference. The windshields are interchangeable, thus the support bracket elevation is the same. Except the two ends, molding clips are all located under the cowl panel, mounting fenders will not prevent clip or molding installation. The end clips require holes in the door pillar and they must be there prior to fender installation. Support brackets facilitate glass installation but do nothing after the urethane sets, the windshield won't slide down.

Lynn, I sent you an e-mail with pics George Clark provided - these and the otherposts should give you everything you need.

Thanks George.
Exactly what I needed.

When I get a chance, next week, I will post them if that is OK with you and the other George.

Here are some pics.  Will probably take two or three posts.

And once more:

The philips screws hold on the "L" brackets.

The hex screws hold the molding clips.

I am assuming the screws are all #8.  Can someone confirm?
Hard to tell the scale from close up pics.
