Title: ENGINE PRODUCTION

 I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW MUCH OF THE ENGINE IS ASSEMBLED WHEN IT IS SHIPPED FROM THE ENGINE PLANT TO THE ASSEMBLY PLANT? ESPECIALLY FROM TONAWANDA TO NORWOOD.IE. ARE JUST THE HEADS ,BLOCK, INTAKE ,OILPAN ETC, ASSEMBLED OR IS IT  COMPLETE READY TO INSTALL? THANK YOU. ALSO I HAVE A 388 4- BOLT BLOCK CAST A10 -69 WITH A STAMP OF TO219HB, IS THIS WITH IN THE CORRECT TIME SCHEDULE OF CAST DATE RELATED TO BUILD DATE?

John Hinckley (JohnZ) did a report on this very subject awhile back that's required reading for anyone restoring their car. It includes not only the car assembly process itself, but also the engine and other components. HERE'S THE LINK. (http://www.camaros.org/assemblyprocess.shtml)

As to your casting date and assembly date on your engine, it's within the normally accepted range.

 bertfam, Thanks for the link to that artical!!!!

 Wow! that was one of the most interesting reads on Camaro's I have had in a long time! While at this time I don't have a first gen car ( I have in the past restored a 68 SS350 convt and a 69 RS which is how I leard about this site)  I do have a 1970 RS/SS396 and a 1971 SS350 and I'm sure a lot of the information is the same.
