Title: '69 blower fan replacement
Post by: Springer Tom on August 22, 2012, 01:13:26 AM
Could someone tell me the simple way to replace the blower fan? My car was painted and the front end put on without the A/C box and blower fan installed. Chassis manual says pull lower fender out 6"!!!! after loosening the rear skirt bolts. Don't mind spending the time but didn't want to take the fender off unless I had to......thanks guys

In the long run you will be way ahead of the game to just go ahead and pull the fender. It's a fight from the word go if you don't.

Ditto.  Been through this twice....much less risk of paint/body damage if you carefully remove the fender vs wedge it out & brace lower portion with a 2 x 4.  Just mark all the bolt & alignment points for easier reinstallation.

X3, my car was back from paint for 3 weeks when I had to take the fender off to get to the heater box.  Ended up getting a much better panel alignment after I got it back together :)

It is easier than it sounds. Loosten the 2 fasteners on the fender bottom, pull out the inner wheel well screws and swing the fender away from the car. Block it with a piece of wood.
