Title: Push rivet
Post by: 68Zproject on March 02, 2012, 06:38:05 AM
What is a push rivet and can you get ones like GM used?  I am referring to the fuel line clip 68 AIM page 123 8 B3  #3 in the square box.  I remember when I put the new fuel line on my car some of the clips were a little off and some of these push rivets had come out of the hole and wouldn't stay in.  Or can I fix what's there?

If you can get the tubular portion back in the hole, just use an awl through the center of the rivet to expand it on the other side of the hole; in the plant, we used a small air hammer with a short tapered shank to install them.
