Title: 69 Trunk Lid
Post by: 69z28302 on September 21, 2011, 11:22:01 PM
Just put weatherstrip (Metro) on my car now the trunk lid is
jacked up about 1/4 inch or more on the left side. I tried letting it form overnight with no results. Movd the latch in the lid around with no luck. Any Idea's

Thanks CRG

Mike

I have trimmed the bottom off with a razor blade to let it sit lower in the channel. It works  but it's trim and fit then trim and try it again til it's right. Just be patient with it.

The Metro is probably too hard. You might give the Classic Headquarters version a try. That is what I used and fit was never an issue.

First off DO NOT go the soffseal route unless they have made some significant changes as their seals are stiffer (harder to compress). If one side only is raised up it would seem that side was not the same as the other before the seal was applied so there might be two issues, i.e. seal thickness and trunk lid fit up. As already mentioned the old faithful razor blade has been used more than once in this situation. I'd take the seal out and make sure the lid fits the same around the parameter and then put the seal back in and trim as needed.
