Devo, I split your post into a new thread but your question was answered on the TEAM CAMARO (http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=196310) site.
And as Kurt stated in THIS THREAD (http://www.camaros.net/forums/showthread.php?t=87652) (see reply number 10), your trim tag is a reproduction, so someone purchased it off of ebay and installed it on your car.

I'm going to have to give this a double "WOW", "WOW"!

Devo,
How was the car advertised? Can you copy & paste the ad?
-
was not advertised
he said its a z28 reto
could not verify but he purchased all componets from GM for a z28
he paid 8k for car and spent 70k for buying all original Gm parts from GM
-
What exactly are your concerns with this car? A Z28 Retro would be a fake so I am assuming you knew you weren't getting a real Z. Did the previous owner ever discuss the fake cowl tag? You have a Norwood Tag on a Los Angeles car.

Worried about when I sell how mkt or people will
React that the car was off frame totally rebuilt with gm
Parts yet not matching and wrong tags does that matter

Sorry devo, I can't answer this question with out blowing up. I might say something I'll regret. Suffice it to say these cars turn my insides. I wish I could tell you something different.

You might part it out and get some of your money back.

This is also suspicious as there aren't a lot of parts for these cars still available from GM. Does he have receipts showing this?
If you spent anywhere near 70k on this car, demand your money back. Even a "perfect" Z28 clone isn't worth that much.

He wants 50

Is that z28 resto (as in restoration), or z28 retro (as in clone)?? There's a BIG difference!
He wants 50
If you haven't purchased it yet, I'd walk away. In my opinion you'll NEVER recoup your purchase price with a mismatch VIN and Trim Tag.

He'll be lucky to pull 20-25K with the tag issue, and thats assuming the VIN on the dash matches the hidden VINs. If it wasn't a Z28 when it left the factory, it never will be no matter how many Z28 parts he adds to it, or how much he sinks into it in parts and paint.
