Can somebody let me know what the correct finish is for a 69 interior door handle + window crank? Thanks

Thanks Ed.
Can I get the window crank re-plated? How do I get the original knob off of the window crank?

The original (clear) knob shank is spin-riveted to the handle; if you drill that out to remove it, you'll need to tap the remaining shank and use a screw and washer to re-attach it; easily detected in judging.

There are several suppliers on eBay. Just do a search for 1969 Camaro window crank.

They are pot metal so if there are deep pits they will be detectable. I had the levers for opening the door re-plated but used the original window cranks as they were in much better shape plus the knobs are riveted.

I dropped by the plater today. He expressed concern for plating either one of these items. He basically refused to touch the window crank and wanted me to research my options for the interior door handle. His initial thought is to buy reproduction parts.
I'm trying to build a respectable car that would do well if it was ever judged. Having never been to a judged event I don't know how these components will affect the score. I spent a small fortune under the hood and don't want to put a mediocre effort into the interior.

You have a couple of choices:
1. Send them to someone that does pot metal. Places like CHROME PLUS (http://chromeplus.com/service.htm) or similar. (Disclaimer - I've never used them so I don't know how good they are.)
2. Buy reproduction from your local vendor like RICK'S (http://www.rickscamaros.com/), etc... (Note that some of the cheaper "China" parts aren't very good.)
3. Buy NOS on ebay. They pop up from time to time but can be pricey.

The pulls have so little exposed that unless they are terrible you would won't be able to tell after they are plated.

E-Bay will be the best option to find some original window cranks. I think for the price of plating, drilling out the rivet and not knowing for sure if the end finish will be excellent or less than average then buying NOS will be the way to go. Ed is right, the price will not be cheap.
